30th Anniversary Hoosier Beef Congress in the History Books

hbc-2016The Hoosier Beef Congress (HBC) is the largest prospect cattle show held in the United States and is open to juniors between the ages of 8 and 21 who live in Indiana. For 30 years, the Hoosier Beef Congress has played an integral part in developing a passion for the beef industry and agriculture in Indiana’s youth. It has become a proud family tradition as many of the parents of today’s junior participants showed at this event when they were young.

On Friday evening, 665 young exhibitors did their best in the Showmanship competition. There were 72 cattle put through the Breed Sale and 53 more in the All-Star sale on Saturday morning. The Junior shows saw 1395 cattle sorted over two days by the three South Dakota judges. The HBC tradeshow offered Indiana cattlemen and women examples of the latest in cattle handling equipment, feeds, educational demonstrations and retail shopping.

The live streaming of the HBC continues to grow in popularity for those who cannot be there in person. All of the videos of the 2016 HBC Showmanship and Junior Shows have been archived and are available for viewing at www.waltonwebcasting.com.

“It is the work of the HBC committee, our IBCA staff, sponsors and the many volunteers who have work uncounted hours that have made this event so special, for so many people, for so many years.”” said Joe Moore, Executive Vice President of IBCA.
