Bough Named to Leadership Role

Indiana State Veterinarian, Bret D. Marsh, DVM announced the appointment of David Bough, DVM to the position of the Director of the Meat and Poultry Inspection Division at the Indiana State Board of Animal Health (BOAH).  Dr. Bough joined the BOAH team in December of 2007 as the Assistant Director of the division. BOAH’s Meat and Poultry Inspection Division oversees the safety and wholesomeness of meat and poultry and associated products at 122 state-inspected processing facilities statewide. These small, locally owned businesses provide an important service to Indiana’s livestock industry, as well as supply local products to consumers.

Prior to joining BOAH, Dr. Bough spent 25 years in private veterinary practice, most of that time at the Lafayette Veterinary Hospital.  The Terre Haute, Ind. native is a graduate of Purdue University’s College of Agriculture’s Animal Sciences program and College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Bough has enjoyed the shift to the food animal sector and the opportunity to apply his clinical skills to working with meat inspectors and processors to ensure a safe food supply.
