Farm Bureau Says Farmers and Ranchers Would Benefit from Repeal of Health Insurance Tax

The American Farm Bureau Federation says legislation introduced in the House to repeal the Health Insurance Tax is a major step for farmers, ranchers and small businesses that would otherwise be negatively impacted by healthcare reform. Farm Bureau President Bob Stallman says the cost of health insurance is a major concern for farmers and ranchers – as costs have increased more than 100-percent since 2000. He says the Health Insurance Tax will impose even more devastating costs on America’s farmers, ranchers and small businesses – making it harder for them to purchase coverage for themselves, their families and their employees.

The repeal of the tax is included as part of the Jobs and Premium Protection Act of 2013 – which was introduced by Louisiana Representative Charles Boustany and Utah Representative Jim Matheson on Friday.
