2013 Environmental Stewards are Innovating for the Future

Four pork farms have been selected to be recognized as the 2013 Pork Industry Environmental Stewards. This year’s awards will go to Russell Brothers LLC in Monticello, Iowa; Bacon Hill Farm in Dodge, Nebraska; Krikke Pork in Greenwich, Ohio; and Blue Mountain Farms in Milford, Utah. Pork Checkoff Environmental Stewards Selection Subcommittee Chair Lynn Harrison says the forward-thinking 2013 Stewards focus on innovative solutions and ideas on their farms. From turning manure into fuel to operate farm vehicles to generating enough power to light up to three-thousand homes – Harrison says the 2013 Stewards are putting their own stamp on raising high-quality pork for customers. Like other pork operations across the country – he says they’re doing it while adhering to the industry’s We Care ethical principles.
