The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service released its Quarterly Hogs and Pigs report Friday. NASS surveyed more than 7,800 operators across the U.S. during the first half of June for this report. As of June 1st – there were 62.1-million hogs and pigs on U.S. farms – which is the lowest inventory since 2007. U.S. hog producers intend to have 2.89-million sows farrow between now and August – and 2.88-million sows farrow between September and November.
