Missouri Asking USDA to Extend Acreage Report Deadline

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has sent a letter to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack requesting an extension of the period for producers to submit their acreage reports to the USDA-Risk Management Agency. Governor Nixon sent the request following heavy rainfall and flooding that delayed many farmers’ ability to plant their crops in his state. Missouri has been at the forefront of the discussion when it comes to planting delays this year, with 20 percent of the soybean crop left un-planted as of this week’s Crop Progress report by USDA.
