South Shore Clean Cities To Host Educational Session On Hybrid And Electric Vehicles

South Shore Clean Cities Inc., a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve and revitalize northern Indiana by promoting the use of clean fuels and clean vehicle technologies, will host a free educational event about hybrid and electric vehicles Oct. 21. The session will be 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. CDT at the Hammond Port Authority, 701 Casino Drive, Hammond. This is the final session of the 2015 Green Fleet Educational Sessions. Previous sessions included information about biodiesel, ethanol, natural gas and propane. The public is welcome to attend and a light breakfast will be provided.

electric-carThe event will offer attendees an opportunity to learn ways to improve their fleets’ carbon footprint and reduce emissions. In addition to networking with peers, vendors and experts in the transportation community, participants can engage in education forums led by industry experts. These forums will focus on topics such as hybrid and electric applications, government regulations, tax incentives, grant programs and more.

Carl Lisek, executive director of South Shore Clean Cities, manages the sessions.

“We have had a significant amount of success through our Green Fleet Educational Sessions throughout the year, with strong participation in the program,” he said.
