Farm Bureau Pleased to Support FFA State Convention

INFB Find Your VoiceIndiana Farm Bureau last week had a consistent presence at the Indiana FFA State Convention. In a Membership Minute Allie Rieth, Young Farmer and Youth Programs Coordinator for INFB, tells HAT they engaged thousands of potential future members with interactive games.

“Our ag fact trivia game is an agricultural spin if you will, on the traditional prize wheel,” she explained. “Students get to spin the wheel and answer questions about agriculture in Indiana and the United States. A new game that we tried this year was created by our education coordinator Julie Taylor and written by our summer intern Mallory Myer of Purdue Animal Sciences. The game is called Two Truths and a Lie. This gives players three statements, two of which are fact and one is incorrect. So the students and lot of time their advisors and parents also there with them were told to find the lie and correct the statement if they could, so the prize wheel has worked really well at county fairs with our county Farm Bureaus and this new game will also be available at county fairs this year.”

County Farm Bureaus can contact Julie Tayler at the state office to inquire about availability.

As FFA members move into the collegiate ranks, they’ll want to consider a Collegiate Farm Bureau membership.

“Our two organizations are so similar,” she said. “We have mirroring structures, mirroring competitions and kind of mirroring mission statements, so Farm Bureau is a natural fit for FFA members when they’re ready to hang up the blue jacket. Our collegiate chapters at Purdue and Vincennes and possibly Huntington University next year are a really great way to transition to college life and to find friends quickly on campus. We also provide scholarships and travel and networking opportunities for our collegiate Farm Bureau members to help set them up for success.”

Student membership rates are $15 annually and you can learn more in the full HAT interview with Allie:Allie Rieth Membership Minute 6-20
