Dow DuPont Merger set to Close in 2017

The merger between Dow AgroSciences and DuPont Pioneer is on track. DuPont Pioneer VP Steve Reno says the process of bringing the two U.S. ag giants together should be completed by early next year, “We are working with regulators worldwide and should see the deal close during the first quarter of 2017.”

New products and brands will not likely be in the marketplace for the 2017 growing season. However, Reno told HAT that, once the new company is restructured, new products and technology will flow quickly, “Farmers have told us they want innovation quicker. By bringing these companies together, this will bring more choices to customers and increase that pace of innovation.”

Those new products will not just be new seed hybrids or crop protection products, but what Reno calls whole farm solutions. “By combining the complementary  strengths of DuPont Pioneer, DuPont Crop Protection, and Dow AgroSciences, we will be able to bring more whole farm solutions to the grower than any one of us could do apart,” he stated.

Midwestern growers are likely to be the first to benefit from the new products because of the two major facilities the new firm will have. Reno said, “We are really looking forward to having a strong Midwest base with our plants in Indiana and Iowa.”
