In celebration of National Ag Week 2018, Indiana’s Family of Farmers (IFoF) donated $10,000 worth of meals to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. IFoF agreed to donate one meal, up to $10,000, each time someone posted to Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #FarmersProvide.
“Farmers in Indiana and across the country play a vital role in providing the food that we rely on to feed our families,” said Jeanette Merritt, chair of the IFOF operations committee and director of checkoff programs at Indiana Pork. “But for many Hoosiers, hunger is a real problem they face every day. We’re thrilled to be able to help feed some of Indiana’s hungry with the help of Gleaners and everyone who participated in our Ag Day social media campaign.”
Merritt presented the $10,000 check to John Elliott, President/CEO of Gleaners, in a presentation on Monday to kick off National Ag Week.
IFoF is made up of many agriculture organizations in Indiana that have rallied around the group’s mission to raise the awareness of Indiana’s quality farmers and quality foods.
