Many were wondering what the payments rates would be for livestock after many producers had to euthanize animals due to meat processing facilities shutting down temporarily.
The payment rate for pigs (less than 120 pounds) is $45/head and for hogs (120 pounds or more) $35/head. Cattle prices can be seen below.
As for dairy, while there isn’t anything specific to dumped milk in CFAP, Fordyce says any dumped milk production during January, February, and March is eligible for assistance.
“If that milk that, unfortunately, is being dumped is in the production numbers of that specific dairy farm, then they will be paid these rates on dumped milk because they would be included in those production numbers.”
Details on the program can be found at farmers.gov/cfap. A tool will be available beginning Tuesday that will allow producers to estimate their payments.
