Now at hoosieragtoday.com, it’s a special edition podcast from Hoosier Ag Today where we focus in on the Indiana forage industry. In part one of this two-part series, we learn about the Indiana Forage Council from council president Elysia Rodgers, Purdue Extension Educator in Dekalb County.

“So, the Indiana Forage Council is basically a networking group of individuals- producers, seed company salesmen, equipment salesmen, NRCS staff, university specialists, research specialists- just a networking opportunity of individuals that are passionate about the forage industry across Indiana.”

Next week, June 20-26, is National Forage Week.

“That was basically established by the American Forage and Grassland Council, who is basically the national forage group. And then there are, I believe, 18 affiliate states across the U.S. that also have forage councils and Indiana is one of the special ones. Last year we were recognized as the top affiliate council across their membership just from our activities, the things that we’ve done on our social networking and such, and so we’re proud to be a part of the American Forage and Grassland Council and just promote forage across the board and just promote National Forage Week next week.”

You can learn more about the Indiana Forage Council at indianaforage.org and be sure to tune in to this special edition podcast where Rodgers is joined by NRCS Grazing Specialist Susannah Hinds and Rossville, Indiana farmer Rodney Hufford. Again, you can find it at hoosieragtoday.com. Part two will drop next week.
