Dubois, Indiana farmer Kevin Kalb achieved the top non-irrigated yield of 409 Bu/A with DEKALB® DKC67-94RIB Brand Blend. This is the highest non-irrigated yield in the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) 2021 National Corn Yield Contest.
“Kevin makes farming look easy, but it’s far from it,” said Kathleen McKittrick, DEKALB Brand Manager. “It’s amazing to see the work he puts into learning how to make the most out of his corn seed and helping to advance agricultural practices for all.”
Overall, farmers who planted DEKALB corn captured the most national placement awards (15 of 27), as well as 190 state level awards, 77 of which yielded 300 Bu/A or higher. Kalb has won a total of 11 national placements in the contest with DEKALB corn.
“We congratulate these winners on their hard work, commitment to innovation and passion for next-level performance,” said McKittrick. “The strong showing of DEKALB corn in the 2021 contest can be attributed to the skilled management practices of the farmers and the consistent performance of tailored product solutions, including exclusive, high-performing seed genetics broadly adapted to stand up to environmental stresses.”
Many farmers across the country experienced variable and extreme conditions this season. McKittrick said yield contests, such as the NCGA National Corn Yield Contest, strengthen the agriculture industry by pushing farmers to learn how to manage adverse conditions, discover improved techniques and innovate for a better future.
