Bayer Encouraging Transition to Regenerative Practices

Growers, do you want access to reduced costs to transition to regenerative ag practices plus dedicated agronomic support to help you make the transition? There is a program from Bayer called ForGround, and it’s all about helping you profit from how you grow your crops.

“And it’s a platform that’s free and available to anyone across the US. All you need is a Climate FieldView account that you can log into,” says Ben Runge, agronomist with ForGround by Bayer. “And then we also host our carbon program on the foreground platform, and our carbon program is designed to incentivize growers to adopt some of these practices that we’re talking about, specifically no till, strip till or cover crop practices.”

Many farmers have adopted these types of practices, and they are delivering on taking care of our soils.

“We’re steadily realizing that we can’t do what we do on a daily basis without the health of our soil and by some estimates we’ve lost as much as 50% of our soil organic matter since pre-colonial settlement in the United States,” Runge explained. “That’s a pretty sobering statistic when you think about the implications to our production, to our yields, and to the sustainability of our farms in the long term and being able to pass those down to the Next Generation. So, we’re seeing a lot more popularity for practices such as reduced tillage and cover crops, and Indiana growers have certainly taken that to heart and jumped on those practices and been able to implement them at scale.”

For a limited-time, ForGround is offering an increased payment for Indiana growers who qualify and enroll before September 30th.

“For Indiana growers specifically, we’re currently offering up to $20 an acre for qualified Growers who are adopting or who have adopted these practices or maybe even just in the consideration phase of this. But we’re limited on the number of acres that we can extend this to. So we’ve got this enrollment platform or process open until September 30th and we’re really encouraging guys to get in on the program. It is first come first serve,” Runge said.

ForGround also gives farmers access to discounts and rebates on machinery and inputs. Visit BayerForGround.com before September 30th to talk to a local rep about these limited-time opportunities.
