Indiana Corn, Soybeans 62% Good-to-Excellent

Dry conditions throughout the state have corn and soybeans rated at 62% good-to-excellent in USDA’s latest Crop Progress Report released Monday afternoon. Corn is 97% planted while soybeans are 95% complete.
USDA NASS Indiana State Statistician Nathanial Warenski says, “Planting progress for both corn and soybeans were all but complete with both crops wrapping up ahead of their respective five-year averages.”
Indiana corn is 85% emerged while soybeans are at 78%.
Warenski adds, “Winter wheat condition remained stable with 76 percent of the crop rated in good to excellent condition. Excellent fieldwork conditions throughout the State continued to push first cuttings of alfalfa and other hay ahead of their respective five-year averages. Pasture conditions declined from the previous week with 58 percent of pasture rated in good to excellent condition. Livestock were reportedly doing well despite the hot and dry weather. Other activities for the week included fertilizer and herbicide applications and irrigation system maintenance.”
