It’s what 4-H livestock exhibitors dream of—a chance to show their animal at the Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. A number of them got that chance Sunday night at the Grand Drive presented by Farm Credit Mid-America, but only 7 got the title of Champion. It was a particularly good night for one 4-Her.
Wabash County’s Chaynee Tennant, a 10-year 4-Her, won the Grand Champion Meat Goat Wether and the Reserve Champion Market Lamb.

“I was ecstatic for the final time to walk on the dirt. But to have two species in it, it was honestly breathtaking. You know, ever since I got the goat home, I knew he was special, but I didn’t know how special he was until we finally brought him down here.”
Tennant knows that her 4-H journey wasn’t a solo one. Her favorite moments included the time spent with family.
“It wouldn’t be possible without my mom and my dad, my brother and his fiancée, and then my grandparents. And then the people along the way—Kyler, Allison, Alex—that help us, that push us to be the people that we are and get our sheep to look 110% each and every day.”
