‘Indianapolis Feels Like Home’ for National FFA Convention and Expo
Downtown Indianapolis will be covered in blue and gold for the rest of the week as the 91st National FFA Convention and Expo kicks off today. National FFA CEO Mark Poeschl gave us a rundown of what FFA members have on their docket for the week.
“We will have young people that will do everything from days of service to career success tours. We’ll have almost 4,000 young people that will be in career development and leadership development events this week. Of course, we have a private concert on Wednesday night where Garth Brooks will perform. And then they’ll have an opportunity to attend convention sessions where they’ll hear motivational speakers and see our national officers in action.”
The National FFA Convention and Expo is committed to Indianapolis through 2024, but Poeschl announced on Monday that it might stick around longer. He told Hoosier Ag Today that Indianapolis feels like home.
“And we’ve had nothing but support from city officials, from state officials, as well as folks like Visit Indy, the scores of volunteers that join us each year for convention. And so, Indy has been a great home for our convention. We spent the first 70 years of our existence in Kansas City until we outgrew Kansas City. Then we kind of went back and forth between Indianapolis and Louisville. We’ve been here in Indianapolis for the past 3 years we have 6 more years on this run, but we’re looking at 2025 through 2031 sites and we’ve narrowed that down between Indianapolis and Atlanta.”
