American Dairy’s 23rd Ice Cream Social on the Circle raises $8800 for Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana

Nearly 3000 ice cream lovers made the trek to a sun-drenched Monument Circle over lunchtime last Friday (July 13) to enjoy their favorite treat and help raise money for area kids in need. The 23rd annual Ice Cream Social on the Circle, sponsored by the American Dairy Association of Indiana (ADAI) and its Hoosier Dairy Farm Families, was a tremendous success, says Deb Osza, general manager of Milk Promotion Services of Indiana, ADAI’s parent organization. A total of $8795.96 was raised between 11 am and 2 pm – making this year’s event one of the biggest, if not the biggest, ever. Money raised will be contributed by ADAI to the Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana, a local organization that supports, educates and encourages young people with Type 1 Diabetes. Volunteers from the group manned the event, along with ADAI personnel and over 30 “Celebrity Scoopers” – Central Indiana personalities from media, sports, business, and civic arenas.

All ice cream used to create the sundaes was donated by Edy’s. Kroger contributed syrups and toppings and Prairie Farms Dairy donated whipped cream. The annual event, held on the Circle’s southeast quadrant, celebrates National Ice Cream Month as well as Indiana’s ranking as the No. 2 ice cream producer in the US.
