America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Announce Grant Winners

At the 2012 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa – Monsanto announced Tuesday 176 school districts in 35 states that will receive up to 25-thousand dollars in grants through Monsanto’s America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program. The program’s goal is to invest 2.3-million dollars in rural schools throughout the U.S. during the 2012-2013 school year. Eligible school districts were nominated by local farms and then had to complete an online application. Finalists then were chosen by math and science teachers from ineligible school districts. The program’s Advisory Council then reviewed finalists’ applications and selected the winners.  Monsanto Fund President Deborah Patterson says the Council is looking forward to seeing the proposals come to fruition and learning how the students benefit from them.
