Bill Reauthorizing Drought Information System to Get President’s Signature

A measure approved by the House earlier in the month and by the Senate this week is expected to get the President’s signature. The bill would reauthorize the National Integrated Drought Information System for five years and support an interactive early warning system of timely and accurate drought information – as well as an integrated weather monitoring and forecasting system. Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor says the bill gives farmers, ranchers and local communities the tools and information they need to manage resources, protect crops and livestock, and prevent economic losses.
