While Indiana farmers monitor their fields their state’s corn and soybean checkoffs are busy putting together plans to promote what farmers do and the products they produce. One of their targets again this year is football fans.
Tuesday the Indianapolis Colts announced their 2012 Fan Fest and Colts Tailgate Tour schedule. It starts next Monday in Indianapolis and is the ninth consecutive year for the Colts traveling marketing campaign featuring players and cheerleaders. It is also the fourth year Indiana corn and soybean farmers have been a sponsor.
Dennis Maple is a Howard County farmer and director on the Indiana Corn Marketing Council. He says being associated with the Colts “is definitely putting a positive image out for the farmer and with generations getting farther and farther away from Indiana agriculture it’s a good way to showcase what Indiana agriculture is about and that we are concerned with other things besides what goes on around the farm. We’re interested in promoting our way of life and the way we do things on the farm in a positive light.”
The summer tours will continue across Indiana with 16 total tour stops through July 13 and an opportunity for fans to get autographs from Colts players and cheerleaders. The partnership with ICMC and Indiana Soybean Alliance includes sponsorship of the Hoosier Horsepower stage at the summer tour stops.
Fans may sign up for one of the Colts Official Fan Clubs, register to win Colts tickets, test their skills in the Play 60 zone, pick up free Colts giveaways, play on the Colts interactive inflatables and experience the Colts In Motion, the team’s traveling museum.
