Committee Sets Beef Checkoff Plan of Work for FY2014

Beef-Checkoff-LogoThe Cattlemen’s Beef Board Beef Promotion Operating Committee is recommending an investment of about 38.5-million dollars into programs of beef promotion, research, consumer information, industry information, foreign marketing and producer communications in Fiscal Year 2014. The committee had to cut about one-million dollars from proposals to meet budget requirements. In the end – a total of 1.15-million was cut.

The cuts were achieved through reductions in budgets for six programs. The Operating Committee also completely cut one submitted proposal. Seven national beef organizations – including the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, U.S. Meat Export Federation and Cattlemen’s Beef Board – had project proposals approved by the committee. Following review by the full Beef Board – the budget recommendation must be approved by USDA.
