Commodity Groups Congratulate President Obama

The National Corn Growers Association and American Soybean Association congratulated President Obama on his re-election. NCGA President Pam Johnson says her organization has worked closely with the president and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack over the past four years on issues important to NCGA’s members. She says they greatly value their relationship with the administration and looking forward to continuing that trend. President Steve Wellman says ASA looks forward to working with the President and his administration in the interest of America’s soybean farmers. This includes helping Congress avoid the fiscal cliff, pass a new comprehensive farm bill, extend current estate tax rates, expand trade opportunities, ensure freedom to operate and avoid needless regulatory burdens, address the nation’s energy needs through bio-based products and advance new technologies domestically and globally. Wellman stresses the importance of both parties in the House and Senate – along with the President – working together to find common ground on pressing issues. ASA urges the President and Congress to return to Washington with a renewed sense of purpose next week so everyone can get back to work serving America’s hard-working families.
