The 28th annual Fort Wayne Farm Show opened on Tuesday with large crowds and unseasonably warm weather. Several days of heavy rains have produced ponding in many fields. Rod King, with Brodbeck Seeds, says it is too early to worry about moisture, “It is only January, but one thing is for sure, we are going to start planting with a full soil profile.”

King told HAT many growers are working to make reductions in production costs. He said one way for many involves eliminating soil insecticides. As for fertility programs, “you cannot cut lime,” said King.  “One thing I know some people are doing is cutting soil insecticide to crop areas they feel will be in danger.”
