Volunteer activities, fun events, and service projects are happening across the country as FFA chapters celebrate National FFA Week. Today is #GiveFFADay, a single-day campaign encouraging the public to support various needs impacting FFA members.
“We’re looking for friends, family, alumni, supporters in general, for our organization. So, when we think about past state officers, past FFA members from local chapters, we’re also looking for folks to be advocates and share the message of today through our #GiveFFADay,” says FFA Eastern Region Vice President Adrian Schunk from Michigan. She says that the money raised will directly impact members through the numerous activities FFA uses to build life skills.
“So, we’re talking about programs like leadership conferences and conventions, career development events, and competitions. So, when we think about what the support will allow our members to do, we’re really giving them the opportunity to build those skills.”
“Put simply, I think it provides life change,” said Schunk. “It’s absolutely changed my life being a part of the National FFA organization. It’s given me skills in leadership, public speaking, and career development that I’m going to carry throughout the rest of my life. I know that I can speak for the 660,000 other FFA members that they’re getting skills here that they likely couldn’t get anywhere else with the opportunities that we’re providing them with.”
