House Ag Chair Hopeful for Farm Bill Passage in Senate

The Senate is expected to begin debate on the Senate Ag Committee’s proposed 2012 Farm Bill this week. House Ag Chairman Frank Lucas is hopeful Ag Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow will be able to get some version of the proposal through the entire Senate – which will make a way possible for the House and Senate Ag leaders to conference later this summer to finalize the ultimate farm bill. Lucas hopes to get a House Ag Committee Farm Bill Proposal finished before the 4th of July recess. He believes accomplishing that – and the senate passing the legislation – will give him leverage in getting the bill to the House floor.
