Immigration Orders Won’t Help Milk Producers

Last week’s announcement of executive orders on immigration will not help the future needs of dairy farmers, according to the National Milk Producers Federation. President and CEO Jim Mulhern said “We still need congressional action.” Mulhern said “we need action in both the House and Senate, with support from both Republicans and Democrats, to do the job that needs to be done.”

Mulherns comments echoes the American Farm Bureau’s, and other farm groups, who called on congress to pass legislation. Many groups had feared the executive orders would not be permanent because congress can reign-in the orders at a later date.
