Overnight Highlights

  • Overnight markets have corn +3 ¾, soybeans +9, wheat +2, crude oil -.09, dollar +.06, gold even and the Dow -27.
  • Grain markets stronger this morning. Soybeans supported from Chinese buying. Large yields and harvest progress hanging over the market. USDA Quarterly stocks report tomorrow.
  • Export sales report will be out this morning.
  • EIA reported weekly Ethanol production at 989,000 barrels per day up 8,000 per day per week. Stocks were up 562,000 barrels from last week.
  • Funds sold 6,000 soybeans, 4,500 corn and were even on wheat yesterday.

Commodity Weather Group Forecast


·         Rains continue to slow fieldwork in E. Midwest corn/soy into weekend; west dry until front arrives late Tue.-Thu.

·         Showers at mid-week & 11-15 day slow W. Midwest harvest, but 6-10 day drier vs. yesterday; damage risks very low

·         Heavy rains (locally 7”) in already wet sections of C. NC/VA/MD/DE, adding to soy/cotton concerns; dry next week

·         Delta/Southeast largely dry for corn/soy/cotton harvest; Tropical Storm Matthew likely stays in open Atlantic

·         Rains aid newly seeded Plains wheat but likely miss developing dry spots in SW KS; showers aid Pacific NW wheat

·         Main wheat/canola harvest areas in W. Canada slow into weekend; heavy 6-10 day rains east but nearly complete
