Overnight Highlights

  • In overnight markets: corn -2 ¾, soybeans -4 ¾, wheat -3, crude -.34, gold -1.90, Dollar -.05, Dow futures +38.     
  • USDA Planting Progress: corn planting 84% complete vs. 85% average year-to-date; corn emergence 54% vs. 55% average year-to-date.  
  • USDA Planting Progress: soybean planting 53% complete vs. 52% average year-to-date; soybean emergence 19% vs. 21% average year-to-date.
  • USDA rated winter wheat 52% good/excellent vs. 47% average.
  • China DDG shipments are much lower than last year – 51,523 MT in April, which is 80% lower than April 2016. Overall, they are down 77% for the year.
  • Soybean inspections are at 90% of the USDA estimate compared to the 5-year average of 91%, corn inspections 74% vs. the 5-year average of 68% and wheat inspections 94% vs. 95%.
