The National Association of Conservation Districts will host conservationists from across the country Tuesday,March 19th for its Spring Legislative Fly-in. NACD members will meet with legislators to discuss issues impacting conservation – including the Farm Bill and 2014 appropriations. NACD President Earl Garber says making a strong investment in conservation simply makes sense when looking at the long-term health of U.S. land and the U.S. economy.
Garber says members will be stressing the importance of caring for the country’s natural resource base today instead of paying escalated costs for repair down the road. NACD supports a farm bill that maintains funding for critical conservation programs and consolidates programs for increased efficiency and ease-of-use. NACD also supports a full appropriations bill for 2014 instead of a Continuing Resolution because producers deserve long-term certainty to plan ahead and make wise decisions when investing in the future of their land, resources and businesses.
