Pence Appoints Pork Leader as Purdue Trustee

12DekrygerGovernor Mike Pence has announced his appointment of Purdue University’s newest Board of Trustees member. Indiana Pork Industry leader Malcolm DeKryger of Jasper County will serve a three-year term.

Like many of his fellow trustees, DeKryger is a business leader. He is president and CEO of Belstra Milling Co. Inc, an independent feed manufacturing company in the northwest Indiana town of DeMotte.

DeKryger is also a former member of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture Advisory Board and has served in several leadership roles with Indiana Pork. His roots were planted at Purdue when he received his graduate degree there in 1983. He later received the Distinguished Agriculture Alumni Award from the Purdue University College of Agriculture. He formerly served on the Purdue University College of Agriculture Dean’s Advisory Council.

Pence reappointed trustees Lawrence “Sonny” Beck, of Atlanta, Indiana, and Don Thompson, of Burr Ridge, Illinois, to serve three more years.
