Pork Checkoff Board Plans 2014 Budget, Accepting 2014 Board Nominations

The Pork Checkoff Board of Directors begins its annual plan of work meeting today. Nearly 40 pork producers from across the U.S. will meet with the Board to develop the 2014 Pork Checkoff budget and discuss marketing, research and education plans. Board President Karen Richter says there are fewer dollars to work with this year – but she is excited about the innovative and aggressive programs the team has put together.

The Board also is accepting nominations to fill five, three-year terms beginning July 2014. State pork producer associations, farm organizations and anyone who pays the Pork Checkoff may nominate someone. The deadline to apply is November 1st. Interviews will be held December 12th through the 13th in Des Moines. Mail applications to Teresa Wadsworth at 1776 NW 114th Street, Clive, Iowa 50325 or email her at TWadsworth@pork.org.
