Two finalists to become Purdue University provost and vice president for academic affairs and diversity will this week make presentations to the campus community in open forums. The person selected will succeed Deba Dutta, who left this summer to become chancellor of Rutgers University – New Brunswick. The finalists are Jay Akridge, interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs and diversity and Purdue’s former dean of agriculture and dean of Purdue Polytechnic Institute Gary Bertoline.
Akridge will make his presentation Tuesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. at Stewart Center’s Loeb Playhouse. Before joining the Purdue administration, Akridge was a professor of agricultural economics and director of the Center for Food and Agricultural Business. He is also chair of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities Board of Directors.
In addition to leading Purdue Polytechnic Institute, Bertoline is distinguished professor of computer graphics technology and computer and information technology at Purdue. He previously led Purdue’s Department of Computer Graphics Technology and was director of the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing and the Envision Center for Perceptualization. His presentation is Friday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. at Loeb Playhouse. The search committee was chaired by Associate Dean For Engineering Kathleen Howell.
