State Fair Officials to Offer Feedback Sessions

Indiana State Fair Board President Steve Simmerman and other fair organizers will hold a public meeting at the Allen County4-H Fairgrounds May 23 at 7 p.m.  The group will be inFt.Wayne to give the public a preview of this year’s State Fair and to solicit ideas on re-energizing the 4-H Sale of Champions, a longstanding State Fair event that provides 4-H members with funding for college and other future endeavors.

“This year’s fair is going to be sensational, and we want to tell folks in the northeast part of the state what they have to look forward to,” Simmerman said.  “We’re also anxious to get ideas on what we can do to get even more people involved with the Sale of Champions, which is a tremendous experience for a lot of outstanding young people.”

The gathering is expected to last an hour or more and will also include details of the upcoming renovation of the State Fairgrounds’ Pepsi Coliseum.  The 73 year-old facility will undergo a major renovation that will begin this fall and run through July, 2014.

The Allen County Fairgrounds are located at2726 Carroll Rd.  The Ft.Wayne meeting is the first of three that fair officials will host around the state.  The others are June 5 inBartholomewCountyand June 6 in Tippecanoe County.

This year’s Indiana State Fair runs Aug. 3 – 19.
