The Indiana State Fair is Back!

After being canceled a year ago due to COVID-19, the great Indiana State Fair returns today. What will this year’s state fair look like?

“It’ll look like the best one ever,” says Indiana State Fair Commission Executive Director Cindy Hoye speaking on the Indiana 4-H Clover Call Podcast. “It should look and feel very, very similar. There are a couple little things that are going to be different, but for the most part your experience will be as good as it’s always been, if not better.”

One big difference this year is that the fair will be open an extra weekend, giving fairgoers 4 weekends to choose from to attend. The fair will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

“That will give us the time to refresh, make sure that the physical plant is safe and back on track to re-open on Wednesdays. Typically, Mondays have been a slower day for us.”

There are many additions to this year’s fair, including Indiana’s largest Ferris wheel, the Hoosier Cruiser Super Wheel.

“It’s a gigantic wheel that is like gondola style seating… it would be similar to those giant wheels you see in Las Vegas or London. This is just a magical way to see the fair from 150 feet up in the air and a magical way to see the city, and just have an incredible experience with your family and friends,” says Hoye.

In addition to the Ferris wheel, the fair will feature another brand-new ride this year, the Double Decker Carousel.

Also, the Budweiser Clydesdales will be at the fair now through August 8th.

And we can’t forget about the food. New food items this year include a Beef Parfait from the Indiana Beef Cattle Association, a Buttermilk Wafflewich from the American Dairy Association Indiana, and Bacon Mac & Cheese from Indiana Pork.

The Indiana State Fair Free Stage will also be rocking each night, with country star Josh Turner taking the stage Wednesday, August 4th.

We hope to see you at the fair! Get more info at indianastatefair.com.
