US Ethanol Production Drops to Six-Month Low

US ethanol stocks for the week ended September 19 shed 213,000 barrels to 18.592 million barrels, falling from an 18-month high as production plunged 42,000 b/d to 889,000 b/d, Energy Information Administration data showed Wednesday. Production tumbled to a six-month low amid talk that multiple plants went offline for major fall maintenance turnarounds.

Midwest stocks plunged 342,000 barrels to 5.667 million barrels, a 2014 low. East Coast stocks also ticked lower by 65,000 barrels to 7.096 million barrels after hitting an 18-month high in the previous week.
Gulf Coast stocks, on the other hand, built 265,000 barrels to 3.211 million barrels, although multiple sources said that build had already left the country this week, headed for Mexico, Asia and India.
