Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack announced funding available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service Regional Conservation Partnership Program to improve U.S. water quality, combat drought, enhance soil health, support wildlife habitat and protect agricultural viability. The 235-million dollars will fund the second round of projects through the RCPP program – which builds on already-record enrollment in conservation programs. Vilsack says this initiative allows local partners the opportunity to design and invest in conservation projects specifically tailored for their communities. In this new round of applications – USDA NRCS is looking for even greater emphasis on expanding partnerships that break down barriers, work across boundaries, leverage resources and create new opportunities for innovation.
