Vireol Bio Energy Joins Growth Energy

Vireol Bio FuelsGrowth Energy, the leading coalition of U.S. ethanol supporters, welcomed Vireol Bio Energy LLC as its newest member, bringing total plant membership to 84, with another 85 associate members. Vireol Bio Energy is based in Hopewell, Va.

“We welcome Vireol Bio Energy LLC to Growth Energy’s membership, and are thrilled to have a member from one of the Mid-Atlantic states join Growth Energy to support the continued development and advancement of biofuels,” said Growth Energy CEO Tom Buis. “Vireol Bio Energy is an outstanding facility that will provide jobs for the people of Virginia that cannot be outsourced, reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign oil and improve our environment with a cleaner, greener fuel.”

“Vireol Bio Energy is providing good jobs at its facility while affording new opportunities for agricultural producers throughout Virginia,” said Todd Haymore, Virginia Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry. “Vireol’s commitment to source at least 30 percent of their grain needs from Virginia creates a substantial opportunity for grain producers in our rural communities while also generating additional activity in our transportation and aggregation sectors. Virginia is proud to have Vireol producing ethanol here in the Commonwealth at the East Coast’s largest biofuel facility.”

In response to their new membership, Peter McGenity, CEO of Vireol Bio Energy stated, “As we progress through our start-up phase, it is exciting that we are able to join the Growth Energy family, and for Vireol Bio Energy to make its contribution to the industry’s progress, both nationally and globally.”

Vireol Bio Energy LLC is a Katzen Motor Fuel Grade Ethanol refinery located in the City of Hopewell, south of Richmond, Va., and has a production capacity of 60 million gallons. The facility is the former home of Osage Bio Energy and will bring 70 new jobs to the central Virginia town.
